Is it lit to establish mood and atmosphere?

The first parts of the narrative are shot in daylight to give a calm mood, inside the house all the lights are on to create a warm feeling which contrasts what is going on, to show the house was a happy place until the man came into it.

The bedroom has one lamp to give light to the woman’s face but the rest is dark to create a sense of foreboding. The dream is shot in daylight but in black and white to show it is a memory and create a surreal mood. Outside is dark and only the woman has the light source, which is a torch, to give a feeling of danger and mystery.
